Virtue: An Artistic Unfolding of Ancient Greatness

An Exhibition Space Designed by Li-Yu Chen

Li-Yu Chen, a renowned designer, has created a captivating exhibition space called Virtue, which pays homage to the founding of Chung Yuan Christian University by Chang Ching-Yu. This unique design showcases the vigor of the space, emphasizing the principle that "the atmosphere inspires, and the space speaks."

The entrance of the Chang Ching-Yu Memorial Hall is adorned with wooden elements that symbolize the pages of a book. As visitors step inside, they are greeted by an automatic door that opens like a gigantic book, unveiling the influential histories that have left a lasting impression on people's minds.

The exhibition space is divided into two areas by page-style boards, representing the connection between the past and the present. Stylish ceilings adorned with book-form illuminations further enhance this connection, creating a visually stunning experience for visitors.

Throughout the space, display boards featuring pictures and texts provide a deeper understanding of Mr. Chang's life and achievements. Visitors can explore the displays of Mr. Chang's personal desk, chair, and his handwritten phrase "Jesus is Lord," which exemplify his respectful virtue even in the face of adversity.

Virtue is a 200-square-meter space that perfectly encapsulates the essence of the Chang Ching-Yu Memorial Hall. It invites visitors to step into a world where art and history intertwine, creating a truly immersive experience.

Li-Yu Chen, along with the assistance of Annie Chen, successfully overcame creative and technical challenges to bring this design to life. The eloquent combination of pictures, texts, and atmospheric elements ensures that visitors are captivated by the stories and history showcased within the exhibition space.

The Virtue design project was completed in May 2014 and has since garnered recognition and acclaim. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.
